Forum for Cross-border cooperation between Plužine and Foča organized
Today, with the support of the European Union, the first meeting of the Forum of cross-border cooperation between the Municipality of Plužine and the Municipality of Foča was organzied within the project “Tourism, Adrenaline and Rafting Adventure (T.A.R.A.)” in Plužine. The meeting was attended by the Mayors of the Municipality of Plužine and Municipality of Foča, members of tourism and hospitality sector from both municipalities, representatives of the Nature Park “Piva” and the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Foča.
The meeting discussed the results of the project achieved so far, as well as future planned activities. Emphasis was on the organization of festivals in Plužine and Foča, which were not held in 2020 as planned due to the corona virus pandemic. The first festival / concert is scheduled for July 24, 2021 in Plužine, and the plan and program were presented in detail to the Forum participants. The organization of the FAM trip, which will be held in July 2021, was also discussed, as well as the arrangement of caves in both municipalities for tourist valorization. Representatives of rural households also contributed to the discussion, which will be supported within the project in the upcoming period with the aim of providing tourist services and connecting with tour operators.
The Forum, as an institutional body, was established in 2009, when cooperation between the two municipalities in the field of tourism development was initiated. The forum is co-chaired by two Mayors and brings together about 40 key actors in this field: representatives of the public, private sector and non-governmental organizations.
The organization of the Forum is one of the activities of the project “Tourism, Adrenaline and Rafting Adventure (T.A.R.A)” implemented by the Municipalities of Plužine and Foča in cooperation with the Nature Park Piva and the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Foča, and funded by the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina within the Cross-border cooperation Programe CBC BiH – CG.
The aim of the project is to develop and promote the cross-border area as a unique destination for active tourism.
Realization of the project began on December 1, 2019 and will last for two years, until the end of November 2021.
